Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers about what ClearPath does — and does not — do.
Q.Can accurate negative items be removed?
No. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, accurate, current, and verifiable negative information cannot be removed simply because you request it. This platform helps you identify reporting errors and inconsistencies, not remove truthful data.
Q.Is this legal?
Yes. You have the legal right under the FCRA (15 U.S.C. § 1681) to dispute information on your credit reports that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable. ClearPath provides tools to help you exercise those rights.
Q.Do you contact the bureaus for me?
No. ClearPath generates the dispute documents and provides mailing instructions. You print, sign, and mail the letters yourself via certified mail. This ensures you maintain full control and have delivery evidence.
Q.What if a debt was sold to a collector?
ClearPath includes a dedicated FDCPA debt validation module. When a debt has been sold, you can use our guided workflow to request proof of ownership, challenge reporting inconsistencies, and compare collector data against bureau records.
Q.Can I delete my data?
Absolutely. ClearPath provides a full Privacy & Deletion Center where you can export all your data as a JSON snapshot and request complete account deletion at any time. Deletion requests trigger immediate account lockout and data purge.
Q.How fast does this work?
Once you mail a dispute, credit bureaus have 30 days to investigate. Processing times depend on the bureau and furnisher. There is no guaranteed timeline for corrections or removals — results depend entirely on the facts.
Q.What if an item is verified?
If the bureau investigates and verifies the information as accurate, you can request a description of the investigation method (method of verification). If you have additional evidence, you can submit a follow-up dispute or escalate to the CFPB or your state Attorney General.
Q.Why don't you use OCR to scan my reports?
Automated OCR frequently introduces transposition errors, missed decimals, and misaligned data — which would undermine the legal precision required for FCRA disputes. ClearPath uses guided manual entry so every value in your dispute package is exactly as it appears on your official credit file.
Q.Is this a credit repair company?
No. ClearPath is a self-serve software and document workflow platform. We do not promise score increases, guaranteed deletions, or removal of accurate information. We help you organize data, identify inconsistencies, and prepare dispute documentation.
Q.What states is ClearPath available in?
ClearPath is rolling out on a state-by-state basis to ensure full compliance with local credit services organization statutes. Check our State Availability page for current status.
